Jennifer "Jenny" Duncan Sisk
At the time of her death in 2017, Jennifer “Jenny” Duncan Sisk was a registered nurse in the operating room of WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Adversity played a role in the development of Jenny’s character and in her instinctive understanding of turmoil and hardship. It was in times of trouble, when difficulties were faced, that Jenny’s true character was revealed. Jenny was the kind of nurse every patient would want managing their care. She was dedicated and hardworking. She was a leader, teacher and an achiever. At the time of her death, she had triumphed over her personal obstacles and adversities, and she will always be remembered for facing challenges head on and never giving up. The Jennifer Duncan Sisk Nursing Scholarship was funded in memory of Jenny by her family, friends and co-workers to provide an educational scholarship award to a WellStar West Georgia Medical Center employee who has been employed for at least one year and has been accepted into an accredited registered nursing program. The recipients of this scholarship must have overcome a personal challenge or adversity.
Impact
The Jennifer Duncan Sisk Nursing Scholarship aims to increase the supply of nurses serving WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. . The scholarship is made available to nurses who have not allowed obstacles to deter them in their academic pursuits, and whose hard work and attitude will help them in their role as a medical care provider. Recipients of this scholarship receive funding to help offset the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, educational equipment and other costs related to the applicant’s academic pursuit.
